Copper-nickel alloys and bronze alloys are most frequently used
The maritine sector, plays a huge part in the Modern world, since approx 90% of the worlds complete freights are done by sea. The maritime industry includes a wide range of companies, spread over a wide range of enterprices. In a big part of these industries, copper-based alloys, plays a central role every day. A few examples of these industries could be:
- Offshore business
- Ships, shipping companys and Ship owners
- Designing
- Construction and Maintenance (Shipyards, repairshops.)
The most frequently used copper-based alloys are copper-nickel alloys and bronze alloys. Copper-Nickel is the most common copper-based alloy, used ind the maritime world. This is due to the great resistance to corrosion, low biofouling rates and their good fabrication abilities. Bronze alloys, are mainly used in building/repairing of ships and other offshore instalaltions. Bronze has, just as Copper-Nickel, great resistance to corrosion, and also very good fabrication abilities. Other Copper based alloys are used in the design of martitme installations, due to the fact, that many people see this as a beautiful metal.
